If your main goal of finding a job during high school in order to develop the necessary skills for your future, your resume, and your future profession, then you should know the following:
In order to get a job as a high school student under the age of 16, one needs working papers.
We interviewed one of our students who went through all these questions and received his working papers . He shared with us that in order to receive this card, you will need the signature of your doctor, your parents and your own. To acquire working papers, you will need to contact your school counselor and ask them for this piece of paper.
Steps you can take to be able go to work (find job):

- Get a working paper in school. (room B44)
- Fill all information that include the working papers (signature from the parents, doctor’s, yours,the seal from the doctor)
- Return working paper to school (room B30)
- Get your working paper.
- Show your paper in the place where you want to work. If you don’t know where you would like to work, you can consult with teachers, school counselors for the provided place where students work more often and to tell you which jobs or businesses accept high school students without work experience.
After you have done the above steps, you can get a part-time job!
Is the working experience in high school going to be included in my college essay? (resume for college)
“For instance, resumes for college applications should list all achievements, jobs, volunteer experience, and awards in reverse chronological order. The most recent job should be at the top of the section, with your previous position below it, and so on. The job experience helps your resume to look better and more professional. By adding information that you worked in high school, you will make a good impression of yourself for college admissions boards. Such activity in high school tells the college that you think about your future. Similar information also speaks about your experience in the various professional spaces that you choose to work in.
How can I gain work experience while in high school?
- “Internships. An internship is a short-term job that may be paid or unpaid, that gives you experience in a real workplace.
- Job shadowing.
- Volunteer work.
- Work in your neighborhood.
- School and community activities.
High school students can learn better time management techniques, more robust work habits, budgeting, and even more personal independence through part-time employment and internships.
Are there any set limits where a student can get a job?
Yes students have limits in the places that they can work, for example students can’t work as a teacher or a driver, Or anything that needs the specific knowledge of a career. Students can work only in jobs that don’t need specialized licenses. High school students should work 4-5 hours a day or a total of 48 hours per week, so it doesn’t affect their grades or their daily life in high school. You can also work 7-8 hours on weekends if your employers agree with it.

Working while in high school can improve your college admission chances by showcasing qualities such as responsibility, time management, and the ability to balance multiple commitments effectively. It demonstrates that you have real-world experience and can handle responsibilities outside of academics.
